2020 Plans and Goals!

Perhaps I'm a little late to the party here, but as I wrote about in my previous post, I'm finally getting over the slump of late last year. I wasn't taking care of myself. I was working a ton of hours, and as a result I was getting frustrated and putting myself in a spiral that wasn't working.

So.

I'm back.

Here we go.

For 2020 I want to continue some of the great things I've had happen to me in 2019.

Miles:

I finished last year with 2,400 miles on my bicycles. That number is crazy! I still look at it and go. Hooowwww???? But on closer reflection it makes sense. I've made some amazing friends who encourage me to fight the recliner and get out and do things. Do AMAZING things. So for this year my goal is 2500 miles. Now you might say that's not a big increase. However, this year I want to be able to do not just do the miles but to do them with purpose and with more strength.

Trips:

Last year had a couple of AMAZING adventures that brought me to parts of the country that I've never been to before. Seeing the world by bicycle is truly a great adventure as you are truly seeing the world with all five senses. Combined this creates an experience that time in a car cannot compare to.

I had the chance to go to Illinois and Wisconsin as we rode the Illinois Rock Island State Trail and the Wisconsin Badger State trail. The fact that this trip was during the hottest week of the year gave me even bigger encouragement that I can do it.

I also went to Arkansas to explore some more off road adventures. This trip was AMAZING, and it really pushed me. It pushed me to not give up and to take more risks. I literally had to let off the brakes and enjoy the ride.

This year. I've got some cool potential ideas for adventures. Looking at potentially going to Arizona in March and New York in July. Hoping to also do RASDak (Ride Across South Dakota) Also want to participate in activities closer to home.

Writing:

I want to keep going on this blog. I've heard several people say that they could never do what I'm doing. Whether it's going on the trips or doing the miles they have trouble seeing themselves as the final destination is so far away. I want to use this blog to show that we're all on an adventure. We're all in progress.

Other Hobbies:

Lately my recliner has been winning, and it's been very frustrating. I want to do and create. My goal is to get back to those things.

I'm a pretty decent lighting designer for theatrical productions. I've got several projects planned for multiple organizations across the area this year and I'm excited to see what we can create. Stay tuned for more on those projects.

I've got a quilting project that I've been working on for close to 7 years now. It's a beautiful project, but it is currently just sitting on my kitchen table. I walk past it every day. This year I want to finish it in time for the county fair this summer.

Other Goals:

These may seem like silly things, but I think it's good to write them out so I can keep accountable to myself and to you. My joke is that I currently live the truly single life. I am gal-less, child-less, pet-less, plant-less. Not that any of these are bad, but it can bring a tendency to not care about myself or my environment.

So this year I want to: go to the gym more often, eat healthier, stay on top of my dishes, do the laundry on time, clean the house more, spend more time with old friends, continue to make new friends, and feel like my place is a place where I can invite others.

So there's my hopes for 2020. It's hard to say what will happen. Things could go amazing or they could all fall apart. But, through it all it's a journey and we're all in progress.

'till next time!
