If you're ever in Madison, WI looking for a place to catch some supper. I would encourage you to seriously consider The Old Fashioned. Literally right across the street from the state Capital building and with lots of public transit available this is a pretty easy spot to get to. I'm not even going to go into all the bike infrastructure this town has. (Check that out here) The Old Fashioned is a great celebration of all things Wisconsin. Decor, food, and drinks are all themed around their great home state. Now, being a proud Minnesota farm boy, I can't give them too much praise for that would go against my roots.
I had one of my favorite midwestern treats. A walleye sandwich. Walleye is perhaps the gold standard against which all other upper midwestern fish are judged, and a good walleye sandwich can right a lot of things. A bad walleye sandwich through can wrong a lot of wrongs.
As much as the Minnesotan in me is pained to admit it. My current South Dakota residency allows me to fully say that this place is definitely worth checking out.
